In this way, the government wants to encourage Flemish SMEs to do business internationally.
Doing business outside the language border is often difficult. But with a website - and especially a webshop - it can be easier. Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) therefore reimburses up to 40% of external translation costs.
The Flemish Agency for International Entrepreneurship stimulates international entrepreneurship among Flemish enterprises. And the FIT assesses grant awards for foreign-language product documentation - which includes your website or shop.

The conditions
- Your SME has a board seat in the Flemish Region
- Your goods or services create added value in the Flemish Region
How high is the subsidy for your website?
You will be reimbursed up to 40% of the product documentation. The minimum subsidy is 500€, with a maximum of 3,000€ per year. Websites and web shops in foreign languages are included.
What qualifies?
All product documentation in the form of websites, web shops, printed brochures, CD-ROMs, etc.
Commercial translations for trade media
What is excluded?
- translations into Dutch
- translations of manuals
Grant application?
Pay attention to this if you want to apply for a grant for your website.
Application must be made to the FIT at least 15 calendar days prior to the assignment. Use this application form.
First register. Then register your project.
Also keep a detailed project quote handy. Because you'll need to submit one.
Within 45 days of your application, you will receive the result of your application - and also how much grant you will effectively receive. From then on, you will have six months to provide proof that the work actually took place. And also that the invoice has been paid. Everything in order? Then the subsidy will be paid into your account.
